This is getting expensive now. Any ideas what is causing this rounding out? It is mostly happening on the left rear tire. Too much power?

Basically unusable now. I also hate that they run the risk of not being able to be removed.

For reference this is what good hexes look like:

I'm going to guess that the lug nut flange is Not big enough to put pressure on the rim..
I'd suggest you use a washer that's large enough to "cover" that hex area.

Are the aluminum hexes engaging the wheels deeply enough? And they’re sufficiently torqued?
If the answers are YES then it could be a heat generated issue, especially if it’s only occurring at one corner. Change the wheel bearings would be my approach.

Wheels on the left side turn counter clockwise; the same direction to unscrew the wheel hex. That’s why the left side is more prone to the issue.
The Mojave also had the ‘rogue wheel’ issue, which is solved by using M2C double wheel nut hexes.

Which nuts are you using? Are they smooth on the rim side or with little teeth?

I am using the JBI wheel nuts and JBI wheel hub adapters. The nuts have teeth. The nut is probably large enough.

The hexes on the hub adapters engage the wheel perfectly.

I don't think the hexes get loose, otherwise I can just finger unscrew the thing. The nuts are tight. When I try to wrench open, it’s when the rounding out happens.

I got a torque wrench to get a better handle on the right “tightness”. I will also check the diffs and the bearings.

PS. These are PMT tires, not GRP.
