First post. I searched. I found the exact same thread in a few different places, but it has dead links to Jennys or isn’t clear on modifications required.

I have a couple of bent front shocks on both of my Senton 3S 1/10, I believe from a head on wheel-to-wheel collision with my wife.

Looking to replace the shocks. Should I just buy a pair of Senton replacements or upgrade? I don’t want to try to bend these back into place. I’m already replacing control arms, let’s just swap them out.

I don’t want to have to do a bunch of modifications. Drop-in or as close to drop-in as possible.

Any help is appreciated.

A few people tried and failed to sell senton shocks in the marketplace and have failed. Search and hit them up.

If you want something drop in that doesn't require much for mods then the Proline power strokes are your best bet, but they aren't cheap nearly $140 for both pairs.
Front https://www.prolineracing.com/performance-parts/power-stroke-shocks-arrma-front.asp
Rear https://www.prolineracing.com/performance-parts/power-stroke-shocks-arrma-rear.asp

Otherwise this is your best bet
Use these in the front https://jennysrc.com/collections/ar...rings-4mm-hd-ara7604v2?variant=32980066172982

Use these in the rear https://jennysrc.com/collections/ar...st-assembled-dampers-springs-red-new-ar106040

Use these in the shock caps to take up the space Axial AXA1356 Silicone Shock Bushing, 7.5 x 8mm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051W7R1M/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_VS5DWDY6294Q5DMQ14T8

Use the small spacers in this set to space out the bottom screws so the shocks don't rub on the driveshafts https://www.amazon.com/Hot-Racing-P.../dp/B00XF8HFQ6?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_dls_failed

You will also need some longer screws for the lower shock mounts stock is m3x16 you will probably want some m3x18 screws.

Super helpful. Thank you. I have two of these, so I’d rather not drop $280 on shocks. In the second setup:
1. Am I putting those spacers between the shock and the suspension control arm? Is the goal to push the presumably fatter shock out further from the driveshaft?
2. I’d be putting Mohave fronts on the front and Kraton fronts…on the rear? Is that correct? Is there some sort of measurement you’re looking at?
3. Out of stock on the Mohave fronts. Any other suggestions?
4. Stupid noob question I’ll laugh at in 6 months. Doesn’t the scale matter (1/10 vs 1/8) more than the power? Why are the shocks showing 6S for the size? I have a 3S truck.

I put Hot Racing Shock Bodies with stock shafts and bottoms on my senton and dig them, Sub $60. Got them both off of amazon

I highly recommend typhon 6s shocks with AXA1356 Axial Silicone Shock Bushings. I never had good luck with the 3s shocks, I also didn't mind the eBay big bore shocks although I found the spring rate really soft.

I emailed Jenny’s earlier and they also recommended the Typhons. He’s checking to see what they have in stock.

What’s the deal with the TLR version?
Typhon TLR Front
Typhon TLR Rear

I read through @slick2500 's informative shock post when i was in your same boat (https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/...d-blx-4s-shock-information-and-upgrades.7413/). I was just looking for something that could take a beating and was the cheapest, so I went with the Mojave front shocks (put them in the front) and kraton front shocks (put them in the rear). The kraton shocks have basically double the weight oil in them compared to the mojave's, so they'll be noticeably stiffer than the mojave shocks right out the gate, but you can change the shock oil if needs be. So far, they've taken at least as much of a beating as the stock shocks and don't show any signs of damage or failure.

Do you want performance? Ultimately durability? Cheapest replacement? What you should choose kind of depends on what you want to get out of new shocks and how much you're willing to pay.

As far as the Typhon TLR stuff, you can search more in the forums, but i'm pretty sure the shocks are just regular typhon shocks but different color and "TLR" branded. But they're expensive for sure (edit: i was corrected on this down below, TLR shocks are pretty different).

FWIW, mojave EXB front shocks are in stock at jennys (https://jennysrc.com/collections/ar...ks-assembled-dampers-springs-4mm-hd-ara7604v2)
And the outcast EXB front shocks are also in stock (https://jennysrc.com/collections/ar...-shocks-assembled-dampers-springs-red-ara8710)

From what i could tell looking at the exploded views, the outcast exb and kraton (exb or non-exb) have the same shocks.

I think TLR typhon shocks are a couple millimeters longer and there for would be to long for a 3s senton unless you use fuel tubing to shorten them up , but even then the shock body’s maybe longer and you would get less travel.

Mojave are the same as the RTR ones …… is that correct @slick2500 ?

Good call, after a little more research it does appear the TLR shocks are slightly longer (https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/typhon-tlr-tuned-shocks-internals-vs-v5.44518/#post-617640). Though the typhon 6s shocks are also longer than the stock senton/bigrock/granite shocks.

Slick's post I linked on shocks discusses most of this. Including that the EXB and non-EXB variants have the same shocks lengths. This is also viewable when you compare exploded views from the arrma website.

Kraton front shocks are the same length as 3s rear shocks. On the other hand, Mojo front shocks are 8mm longer than 3s front shocks, so when you use this setup it gives the 3s cars a bit of a negative rake (higher in the front). It doesn't bother me personally. You can correct that with fuel tubing or other type of fix if needed.

These are nice too, only downside is they use the stock shafts, which is the biggest weakness of the stock shocks, so if he is already bending the stock shafts this won't help him much.

Nope the TRL shocks are completely different, they are 5mm longer, have different springs, different pistons and I believe someone mentioned that they have Delrin guides instead of plastic.

And yes the Kraton, Outcast and Notorious all use the same shocks rtr and EXB.

Yes the EXB and RTR shocks are 100% the same across models.

Great feedback. I ended up ordering 2 sets of Typhon shocks.

Last question (I hope). What do I do with the giant hole? Jenny’s sent me a video of a guy using Ethernet cable tubing as a filler. Does it even matter? The top of the strut is in a housing.

Slick pointed out the solution above, axial shock bushings. That's the typical suggestion i've seen. That's what I use.

If you have bought or got a servo warranted they come with little square rubber bushes, I just stuffed those in the top 🔝 hole and seem to work just fine. Otherwise as @slick2500 and @Hector_Fisher said is the way to go.

Amain got the Axial bushes too.

Another option is nitro fuel tube and I swear I remember a guy saying he used medical tubing, like the stuff they use for IVs.
