I have Tons of them..
From trying out different slicer settings (wanting to print "faster.." ; to a variety of orientations of the part(S) attempting to achieve a "better" surface finish.. ; to just changing filament color... Prints can & will fail unexpectedly..

So, I'll go first..
Started this print last night.. thinking it's completed over 25% already , everything looked good, should be fine.. Went to bed ,I was tired....

Woke up to this wonderfulness! >>

It was printing vertically , going up on its side beautifully..
First layer was perfect.
Tree supports had brims too ,for extra stability.

Better a spaghetti monster than the encased blob of death... That is what I would call a successful fail.. 😉😂

I've seen several of those at an industrial print shop... It was SO Encased that the whole hotend was a total loss and I asked if I could have it..
They just looked at me..

Oh man that brings back memories. And it was PC filament. I threw the whole hotend in the trash.

Found the possible cause of my print problems..

Hairline fractures all around my Y-axis belt drive tensioner housing..!!!

Think I'll draft up a large 20mm washer/shim to place at the knob area to take the pressure away from the plastic housing right at the hole area...

You should put in a glass case, call it modern art, and title it "my work week" 🤣

You think I can find an Art Gallery to display my works of Italian 3D spaghetti ?!!

I've seen what passes for art, at least this looks cool. All you need is some angst ridden back story about how it represents the struggle of transgenderism in today's society. You could probably get $20,000.00 for it.

I wish I had pics of shame. I just toss them. I will have to start taking pics because let’s me tell you what. I have had a few 😂

I KEEP all of Fail printS that's how l can learn from what went wrong.. Especially on important designs.
Was embarrassed to show/showcase them originally ,back then..

I'm Older now, don't give a flying donkey poop about how Bad it turned out
believe you can do it GIF by Fleischer Studios

or what folks think about my mistakes.

It's all a learning process.

I can only improve by showing the fails, learn something new about how to make it better, and having a good laugh about it.

.

20mm shim/washer w/4mm center hole ,for my Ender Extender 400XL Y-axis tensioner knob to tighten against.

Any idea why some layer lines are so bad? Also, what have you done to reduce z-Seam size? Some of your print seams are so small I can barely see them. Mine are giant
What material are you using? Off first glance seems to be a bit of under extrusion. But before I make an assumption. What material? Layer height, temp, retraction settings?

HATCHBOX PLA
195 c, 60 c bed
retraction as follows
Retract at layer change
.8 mm distance @ 40mm per second
0 prime
1.5 minimum retraction travel
Combing off
Retract before outer wall

I’ve tried many times, and have been trying some setting from people who got the katana to work. My first 5 tries the parts fused.
