Drone FPV guys school me on how this works

Custom drone building is way more technical than Surface RC is.
I am far from that level of understanding. But I always pick his brain.

He certainly does.
When we talk about his drones and my RC rigs, as he never had a surface rig before, he asks me much about mine.
I see that Surface RC's actually cost more $$ on average.

Hardware wise it's not much different other than scale. Soldering 8AWG to a QS8 vs 16AWG on a tiny PCB.
Software side is much, much more complex, surface rc have no brain...

Surface RC is more prone to damage. With drones, it's mostly props, an occasional flight controler and some go lost in the pond. I can confirm the drone hobby is cheaper (when you exclude crawler from the surface RC population)

Yeah Crawlers can get stupid $$$$. I have 3 of them. I had to stop spending $$$ with them. Got out of control for me.
But they rarely do break, if it's any consolation.
