So I currently use a Vector 1200 amp jumpstarter with 500 watt continuous (allegedly...) AC inverter as my field power source. It's currently on a luggage cart with my charger and "battery deck".

(yes, the batteries are named lol, helps track them in the spreadsheet)

Of course, this is a lead-acid car battery effectively, so it's big, it's bulky, and it's heavy. The thing is, even if I go dual LiPo (one day...) charging, I don't foresee the need for 500 watts continuous, so I'm trying to see if there's a better option so that this heavy boy can stay in the car.

I was looking at the RYOBI 150-Watt Power Source and was wondering if anyone else had explored the world of tool batteries for RC charging.

Anyone got thoughts on this sort of thing? I know there was a thread a few months ago about using solar but Georgia has a thing with trees and hills all over the place, so between that and the price point, wanted to see what thoughts there were on this approach. (and feel free to comment on my "wonderful" Goodwill-special cart. It's gimpy as heck, I know.

If I were bashing away from home, I’d grab a $150-$300 hand carry, light weight, 1200 watt, tried and true gasoline generator off crapazon. A 1200w genny just 12-15 years ago was the size of 2 milk crates. Now they are one and very easy to carry.

What batteries are you typically charging? A 6S 5000mAh needs ~ 130W to fully charge. Wouldn't
make any sense to use a 150W power pack. If you have tons of tiny batteries, it would be fine.

Best solution that I've tried is to bring along a fully charged APC power backup unit for computers.

I just grab whichever unit I have that's Not being used for my mission critical service (at the moment) and Go..

Basically, dual use the way I have them setup.

They can run my charger(s)
or whatever else I need 120v power for about 3-4 hours , that's about enough charge for how I Bash.. (Your mileage may vary..)
