Blueberry is getting some upgrades!

3561, 2800kv 6 pole motor
17t pinion
120amp esc
Arrma cvds for the rear
M2C motor mount/brace
TA steel pivot/turnbuckle balls
New spur assembly
Not shown in pic but included in upgrades:
MX28 MT tires (Trying them out on the new Typhoon for a bit)
New chassis
TBR bearings
I’ll also replace anything that looks worn while working on it.

Now I just need to pick out a body. I want to go with a proline and I’ve got it narrowed down to three. I’ll put up a separate post shortly asking y’all’s opinion

I have no idea how the six pole motor will work out (less cogging I hope). Or if I got the right size pinion. Gotta start somewhere though.

Basically she will be a new car when I’m done with her 😁

Did not like the 6 pole motor so threw in a surpass 3670. All the other upgrades are fantastic so far.

Well, except for stripping out the rear ring and input gears. It’s an easy fix but…why did it strip? Kept bugging me in my sleep.

I put a new one in last night but decided to pull it apart again and check on the mesh. I’d also forgotten to fill it so did that as well. Good thing I did as it was only 1/4 full from the factory. I filled it up with 20k, I’m running 30k up front.

Maybe with the combination of cvds and hot racing yoke it needs a tighter mesh. I swapped the shim to the ring side and it was way tight. So I removed the shim altogether and it seems good. Tight but good. We will see.
New power hobby raptors! I’m hoping they will be good fore the skatepark and bmx track. They are belted so will have to see how that affects air control. If they don’t work for the granite they should on the vorteks.

Replaced the shock fluid with 50 weight last night and put the mojave/Kraton Springs back on. Since this is the car I jump the most I like to see how it works with those Springs.

I rather like these power Hobby raptor tires. I got a feeling they won’t do much for air control though and may work better on my vorteks hybrid.

The Flying Blueberry needs some love. I recently broke two of the 8 month old RPM arms and realized other parts are looking tired… so time for a little bit of wrenching

Um…got carried away 🙄 Total rebuild it is.

I’m going to lighten it some for the skatepark and jumping. Out with the surpass 3670, 2650kv motor, in with the Fuze 6 pole 3660, 2800kv motor. I’ll start with an 18t pinion. Pulled off the cvds and will put them on Old Yeller. Off with the Badlands and back to stock Granite wheels. Only alloy upgrades will be hot racing diff yokes and m2c mount/brace, both helpful for jumping.

I’m putting on new stock steering yoke, turn buckles, c-clamps, steering blocks…yeah.

Coming along. I put on new RPM granite arms, new turnbuckles, new C clamps and steering blocks, new skids…regressed the diffs lightly with my handy little grease gun that I love since I bought it…got the new Fuze six pole motor in…

Yup she’s coming’ along. Slowly. Because I’m still flighting this flu and feel awful.
I feel like I’m procrastinating putting the Notorious back together. As a matter of fact I know I am. I don’t know 6s cars and I’m not sure how to reassemble it, whereas I know 3S cars like the back of my hand. Tomorrow I will start on the Noto for sure. Or Tuesday. Yeah.

I can’t say that I am very impressed with this Proline body. I heard from a few people that they tend to crack after I got it. I’ve only run it twice and have 2 small cracks already. The one by the wheel well appeared happened during the first run and I’ve tried to reinforce it. The one on the hood appeared after the second run.

So, even though the Proline Proline plastic feels thick and sturdy, it’s not proving to be so far. I haven’t had any wrecks or landed on the roof yet, these were just from running around at the park 🙄

I just finished a Jconcepts body last week and ran it for the first time yesterday. I rolled it multiple times and hit a rock job wrong, landing on the roof hard from about 5 feet up. It barely even scratched. Impressive!

Man, I love this car. The Fuze 6 pole motor drives fantastic and is staying fairly cool. Not gonna stress about the body, let it break, I will enjoy painting another (not proline) one.

Still has to be one of my favorite cars. Took it apart this week and gave it a quick rebuild and deep cleaning. Pulled the CVDs, metal diff, larger motor and hot racing diff covers and replaced with stock. Put new granite RPM arms on front and back also. It’s so much lighter now.

Currently set up-
Hot racing 10mm extensions, 6s shocks, dumbo tx/rx, MX28s, 130amp esc, fairly new stock motor, Powerhobby dual 30mm fans, proline body (2019 Chevy Silverado Z71 Trail Boss). Old style adjustable 3s wheelie bar.
There’s something to be said about these 3s cars when they are light weight and well planted. I’m glad I pulled off most of the metal upgrades.

The hot racing 17mm hex extensions work very well on this short armed, short wheelbase ring. The dual Powerhobby fans come with their excellent dual mount and 2 surprisingly powerful fans. (I know I need to clean up the wires). The spectrum smart 130amp escs that I got off Jenny’s a year back when they were $50 have been solid. All three are still working great. Think they are $75-80 now. Badlands are my favorite tire still after nearly 2 years. I have the old style 3s wheelie bars on several of my 3s cars and they have held up very well to many tail landings. I like the adjustable feature very much.

I love ripping it around the dry lake bed at the park and jumps, stunts and flies beautifully as well…though I'm not doing that as much as I used to. Mostly just enjoying ground bashing my first Arrma, the mega granite that started my RC obsession 😊

Time for servicing and a bit of upgrading. I even already have everything I need. I’m getting rid of the short arms/hot racing 17mm hex extenders and putting on a set of long arms. I’ll run stock for the rear and RPM upfront, since I already have them, and typhon axles/17 mm hex.

New spur assembly, hubs, turnbuckles etc and a surpass 3665, 3100 kv motor with a 17t pinion. I’ll keep the diffs stock with hot racing diff yokes. A rather new spectrum smart 100a esc, that was a vorteks warrenty thing, will power it. Lastly, the shocks need a quick refresh and then it’ll be ready to go!

This little guy was my first real rc. My first Arrma. Started as a mega and now it’s my high flying jumper. Ended up doing a full disassembly rebuild including shocks and diffs. Not sure why except the car needed it. Took most of the damn day between distractions and putting things together backwards 🙄 I also checked and reglued the MX28s. These ones are 18 months old but still solid.

I’m running Kraton front shocks on all 4 corners. I limited the front ones from the inside by 1/4th inch and put bump stops in all. It should handle the landings well. At least the ones where I land on the wheels. Can’t wait to get it out tomorrow!

I went ahead and sealed the diffs with liquid gasket on this one as well. Used minimal grease, just smeared it all around the ring gear. I’ll open it up in a month or so to take a gander. I’ve done these enough now that it only takes a few minutes to apply the gasket maker.

Wow! Just read from the beginning on this Granite and I must say this is now my inspiration/muse for my month old baby Boost Granite. Talk about goals! Certainly going to keep an eye on the Blueberry! So far mine is just Jiggs' Rig but I think once I've ran it more I'll come up with something better. Want to reserve Jiggs' Rig for a future 1/10 Crawler (far future, have to get my Granite zipping and flying first!) - Great build, a true testament to the beefiness and potential for Arrma RC!

My step daughter helps me (insists actually) name the cars and we come up with fun ones. It’s been a really good car and I’m glad I started my 3s experience with it.

Yep I unfortunately have to deal with the tires on my actual car this week so hopefully next week I can grab either the esc or motor from Jenny's and begin my parts pile for the upgrade. I was worried they'd stay out of stock but they seem to restock fairly quickly! I just don't want to end up in a situation where I have either the ESC or the Motor and am unable to get the other - I don't know enough about how ESCs and Motors work together so finding a mate that isn't factory specific would be pretty daunting for me..

The stock ESC is good. But for the motor I would go with a rocket or Hobbystar like this one. It’s better than the stock motor.

It’s the same motor I’m running in blueberry right now, paired to a stock esc.

About the same price as Jenny's and probably stays in stock longer too! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll probably go with this one if it's still available when I'm ready to buy!

Oh…That one has a ribbed can so you would need to get a fan mount and have the fan blowing directly on it. If you want to keep running the stock heat sink, this one would work better.

Dang it, broke the Blueberry’s chassis. I can’t believe it lasted this long actually. My first Arrma, got it as an mega in early 2020. Think I’ll sacrifice the 3s ‘parts bin vorteks’ for this one.
