Same thing happened to my wife's rig. There was a rock that wedged between chassis and the diff cup wore it down even worse.

Happened to me, the day I installed the Hot Racing Diff Cup. Took off nearly all the black anodizing. Was super bummed, but didn't hurt the cup. The Outcast front dirt guards and the tall sides have helped since.
