Hey,
I’ve got a 4x2 550 Mega running a 3300 mah 8.4V battery at the moment, but I’m wanting an upgrade for longer run times.

Im a complete novice and have no idea if the bigger 6800mah battery is compatible with the 550 mega or are there other upgrades I need to make? I know I have to change the ESC over from NiMH over to LiPo but is there anything else like the battery tray size or?

Also, the 3300 battery gives about 15 mins run times at full whack, is the 6800 gonna be noticeably better? Ideally would be like 30mins +.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea what I’m doing at the moment but want to learn, cheers!

Kieran

This would fit if you are talking about a Typhon Mega or other 4x4 platform car.

This 139x47mm will fit your chassis and in theory your driving time will be 2-3 times as long with this battery and it will run a little bit faster on lipo and will noticeably accelerate faster.
I have an Arrma Vorteks 4x2 Boost 550 Mega, I’ve enclosed a link to the one I have
https://www.arrma-rc.com/en/product...-550-brushed-stadium-truck-rtr/ARA4105V4.html

The connection I have to the ESC has an orange connector and the one for the battery you have recommended looks different, is there an adapter or something?

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

Adding unnecessary weight capacity so you don’t have to spend 5 minutes installing another pack is the furthest thing from an “upgrade” as possible.

Makes the car slower, handle worse, less air control, and more stress on components to fail.

Welcome 🤗

So is there not just a larger battery that I can purchase for now for longer run times before I dive into installing packs etc For example, this one has the same connector as mine, would this work?

Thanks again!!

I also like having multiple smaller packs. Better performance and more overall runtime.
Ah okay! So atm the battery that came with the car is a 3300 mAh 7 cell 8.4v, so would I be better off buying say two more of these rather than a bigger one? Thanks!!

5000 or 5200 lipo is about the sweet spot for most 1/10 off road.

i wont suggest u upgrade to any larger capacity. below 5500mh is good choise. Why.. because it add weight to ur rigs. Thats a big No..no.. if u are in 1/10 scale. 15min of ur run time is fairly enough. if u want more playtime then get multiple of lipos & separate in between ur run so that u can have time resting ur each batteries. Just reminder: lipos are fragile & sensitive. their biggest enemy is heat. Do more stress on them, the faster they degraded.
