Ive seen some guys doing speed runs with max spring preload front and rear. But have also seen some using min preload front and rear. I don't know what to run in what situation thanks
 
Preload is primarily for setting ride height. If you have to put so much preload on that the spring is mostly collapsed, your spring is too soft. On 1/10 shocks if I need more than 3/4" of preload to get my desired ride height, I switch to the next stiffest spring. I'm assuming the guys not running preload were probably running stiffer springs. What are you trying to achieve?
 
Just making the car suspension stiffer for speed runs
