V2 and V3 stand for Version 2 and Version 3 or 2017 model and 2018 model. The new model which was released last month has the following upgrades that I copied from Tower Hobbies.
  • New Larger Battery Tray w/Wire Routing Clip & area for Balance Plug
  • Radio Box w/Rubber Wire Seals & Receiver Plate
  • Aluminum Top & Bottom Shock Caps & Preload Adjusters
  • Larger Diameter 0.16" (4mm) Shock Shafts & New High Spring Perches
  • Additional Webbing Added to Bulkheads for Greater Strength
  • Stronger Servo Mount for Better Steering Feel
  • Updated Chassis Braces Attach Directly to Chassis
  • Lightweight Plastic Shock and Roll Bar Pivot Balls
  • Added Material Around Front Suspension Arms for Greater Strength

Skip it ,,,,brain fart....v. Is for version"... thanks. TAZZZZ

And V1 was the "Original"

The V1->V2 upgrades-
Ditched the "Maypop" BLX180 ESC (red case) for the black case BLX185 ESC.
Dropped the red can 4069 2050kv motor for the black can 4074 2000kv motor.
Revised the front hubs so you don't blow the inner wheel bearing every third pack.
New stronger wing mount.
Swapped radio from the "ATX100" (flysky gt2 rebrand) to the Tactic.
New paint.
New tires.

My Kraton and Typhon are both V1's. I have done some of these updates (hobs, electrics, wing mount) to my Kraton. Typhon has only gotten new ESC/Motor/servo

OK, dumb question - how do you tell the difference between a V2 & v3 from the part number? My LHS is going out out business and has a decent clearance sale on the Kraton as well as the Senton, but I'm not sure what version of Kraton they have. Is there a different part number or other box identifier that I can easily see - no sense in buying an older model unless it is a huge discount - and we're only talking 10% off list at this point.

I think the part numbers for the V2 and V3 are listed below.

Hi Guys,

1st post here.

Have decided to pick up a Kraton after spending a fair big of time going through this site and watching YouTube reviews. The durability is a real hook.

I’m not a noob to RC but am getting a bit tired of constantly working on my modified EMaxx and want a durable RTR right out of the box to play with while I’m working on that project.

I have two options for the purchase:

1) My LHS has a V2 (AR106015) for $699.99 CAD - this will jump to $735 CAD after taxes
2) Tower Hobbies has the V3 (AR106031) for a similar price after shipping and duty is included

Is the V3 that superior to the V2 or will it require similar upgrades that are mentioned in the upgrade thread here?

Thx for any suggestions you may have.

I’m almost positive it’s a v2. V3s just came out and I’m sure you LHS knew he was going to have to close his doors well before last moth. So I don’t see him buying more stock when he hasn’t got rid of the old stuff yet lol. Just my 2 cents tho.

Thanks for the info. He actually had both versions, the older one was listed for $400 and the newer one was listed for $450. So I bought the newer version. He's closing his store in Columbus Ohio and moving to Jacksonville Florida - I think he plans to open a store down there eventually so any leftover inventory will move with him. Can't wait for Christmas morning to see my son drive this beast. Plan on starting him off with a single 3s lipo, any concerns with that setup?

Watch temps is all. I've run my Kraton and Typhon on 3s. For my son, 3s is about perfect for race track running. Still has lots of low end power, decent speed (30mph?), but very controllable. I have noticed the motor gets hotter running 3s, though, so watch temps. My son is running a Nero motor, not the stock black motor. on 4s, it runs very cool, 100f-110f. On 3s, it runs 130f-140f. I don't know if the black motor runs as cool, though, so watch the temps for the first few runs. Get a IR thermometer - $30 from Home depot, or $12 from Harbor freight. FYI, "Safe" is under about 160f. "Feels Scalding" to your fingers is about 120f-130f so you need a thermometer.

Are you talking about hurricane hobby? I never had a chance to hit his store up before what happened, happened. I heard it was great and he was pretty cool as well. It’s a shame everyone can’t just play nice together! Hurray capitalism! Haha
I also had these same questions recently because I was a typhon newb. I just bought a used one and have been replacing and upgrading everything. I’m sure you already know of this site, but, jennysrc.com has almost any factory part, for every 6sblx arrma. Since this is an old post, this comment probably won’t be read haha.
