Quick question from a new Kraton owner and new guy on the forum!

So I noticed running 6s when I plug in the second battery there is an audible electric pop. Is this normal or something to worry about. Probably nothing just being sure.

Other than that the car runs great. I had a heck of a time trying to get the stock ESC to work but I have a hobbywing 8 in there now that is perfect.

Thank you!!

This is normal when running higher voltages. I have it happen on 6s and 8s pretty much everytime and once in a great while I will be able to hear it on 4s. You can get anti spark XT90 connectors. I have never used them, so I do not know if they help, but they are supposed to be designed to prevent this from happening.

Thank you very much. Answer in less than an hour!

I should have known, I'm just new to the high voltage RC world. I'm glad i'm not doing any damage.

LOL it scared the hell out of me the first time I plugged in 8s in my Baja. 8s creates such a large spark that it actually burns/marks the bullet connectors and melted a couple of spots of plastic on the XT150 connectors that I use! I kind of want to get a new 12s capable ESC and try 12s and see what that is like LOL.

I run the anti sprak on a couple of my batteries, and they work fine. However, I do not hear that pop on any of my batteries.

Do you run single 6s batteries or do you run two 3s batteries? I am wondering if this has something to do with it.

I'm using two 3s batteries. Its not loud and I don't see a spark, but I do hear it. Only when plugging the 2nd battery in

I saw in your original post that you said that it only happens when you plug in your second battery. This is when it happens for myself as well. I am wondering what @dpricenator uses. Maybe this is just because of the multiple battery setup is what I am wondering.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I don't think that I have ever heard or seen the spark on my Arrma vehicles when the ESC switch was turned off. I know that I have heard in on my Arrma vehicles when hooking up the batteries with the switch on. I have also heard and seen the spark on my Baja but that doesn't have a switch for the ESC, so that may be another thing to check to make sure your switch is off on the ESC (assuming you have the factory ESC).

i run solid 6s pack and it pops and sparks every time I charge or plug into truck. I bought the anti spark connectors but have not switched over yet. I'm glad to see this post was wondering myself if it was normal or if is some how bad for battery or electronics.

When I had a 6s, it was a brick. I got the spark every time. 4s, sometimes I will notice a small spark. With 2-3s packs, you get the spark on the second pack because that is when the circuit is complete. As I understand it, that spark is the Cap pack charging - it is in the circuit before the ESC, so on/off does not matter.

Like they all said, it's normal. I installed a secondary cap pack and it isn't as bad, or so it seems. Don't worry about it though
