Im definitely trying to break that 160 mark. I love how your using a Kraton chasis and will eventually go that route.
Again i appreciate all your help.
Tppower just said its okay to change my motor... should i ask for something that can handle 12s, 16s? Lol

Unfortunately there's no real way to make a typhon handle more than 8s and 12s speed controllers will not fit unless you run a gt body. But then you will not hit more than 130 without going airborne trust me. 160 with a typhon is going to be extremely difficult. At that speed you need an aero dragster or highly customized rigid body gt. You can run 8s but 6s with the right motor and gearing will be faster because the capacity of the packs needed to run high enough amperage.

Also the 4070cm will not fit into a standard length typhon without almost cutting the rear A arm down to almost no support. It also hits the lower bulkhead mount just so you're aware. Are you running a spool?

Yes ive got a spool. Running i think 38t and 26t pinion. It screams. I probably need weights on it now cuz i cant really get a full squeeze on the throttle with out it trying to bust donuts even when its already going 50+mph. Lol. Ive thought about coated inside the body with fiberglass resin. Is this a good idea? Also cutting vent holes like Typhons black badass Typhon.

You'll probably want to trim some of the back edge off the wing. It adds drag and tends to cause the nose to want to pop up. At least that what some of the faster people have said.

Absolutely. Smaller wing. Vent holes not needed, the rear of the body is open. Body provides down force. I run an outcast rear wing. But may run no wing at all, we will see if stretching the car keeps the nose down. Just been doing some final tweaks before i go to the runway for my 150mph pass.

Runway? Ive been driving around looking for a cool street all day. Lol
How come it doesn't upload any of my pics? Argh

Thanks that makes sense

Oh finallly my debut.

Nice man, where ru from? Theres an abandoned airstrip near my house lol

I forgot to tell you also make sure the low voltage cutoff is set to the lowest setting 3.0v or turn it off. And raise the current limit on the xlx turn current limit OFF. otherwise the esc will cut power. You need firmware version 1.82 and castle link to make these changes. Its mandatory or you won't break 100

Im from Las Vegas. Youre so lucky to have an airstrip runway that you can test and run on.
I just found that the front of my spool got loosend and wasnt driving the front tires.

How obvious is it that i jumped into the deep end of the pool ? Lol.

I did set my current limit to 280. I wasnt sure how it would react to my setup yet. So far ive ran it maybe 20mins all together. And 5 mins tops on the XLX.

I moved my battery tray up more for room and weight distribution to keep front from sailing and the rx to where the old esc was.

Not yet, weather here hasn't been cooperative. Was going to try tomorrow but going to be in the 20s. Going to jamaica this week so won't be able to run it until the following weekend. I will update when I do.
Just take it to Jamaica with you. Haha have fun and enjoy the weather there. It's 20s here too, I'm ready for spring! Will be looking forward to the update on the speed run.

After a new paint job and kraton chasis, here she is. Still waiting on tp power motor.
Thank you again +Lockup1109

Vegas, nice job, the battery doesn't fit under the body? What tp motor did you go with?

I haven't tried stuffing that battery under the body yet, i just kinda zipped it up there to power up a fan. The tp is 1400. Good?

Gotcha. 1440? KV? Which model motor?
4070cm 1400kv
I asked for up to 12S
I don't even have an esc that can manage that yet. Lol
Heres a thermal shot after a little play

Seek thermal pic

Oops 1400kv. Lol
Honestly I think you're going to want more KV. Running 12s in a typhon just isn't feasible, even stretched and widened to a gt Theres not enough room. A 12s controller is HUGE. lol. and 1400KV isn't going to get you 150+ mph speeds. I would reconsider using that motor in the typhon. Maybe throw it in an 8s kraton lol for bashing.

What happened to going with the custom wound 2700kv ? That is perfect for 6s. And 2200kv for 8s is a monster too.

Lol. I wanted a motor i can grow with.
I have castle 2200kv and i think a 2650, and a 7700 that ive outgrown and im pretty sure ill fry if i try speed running with.
Still wondering what you're running. I wont tell.

Whats up guys, new to the forum and wanted to share my project and quest to best 150 mph.
Started with a typhon buggy and modified the he'll out of it.
As it sits I have a custom wound insanely high KV tp power 4070 cm 40x107mm motor running 6s.
Gearing is 1.27:1 ratio. Yes it is geared higher than the magic 1:1 speed run ratios. Wanted to share some pics, running an XLX with no current limit.
Belted grp velocity and sweep racing gt2 tires. Kraton chassis, custom made body mounts and esc mount and diff mount. Locked spool so I can run pinion gears as spur gears, 8mm castle connectors for motor, 6.5mm for batteries, 11000uf custom cap pack im soldering in tomorrow. Limited shock down travel. Outcast rear wing. Havnt ran it stretched yet or with this motor, but I hit 112mph with a MUCH less powerful and lower kv (2200) motor over the weekend.
Running 2x revolectrix 5000mah 70c tested 3 cell batteries. Best batteries I have ever ran with the lowest resistance I've measured.

Will post up pics of the final outcome and speed run this Sunday.

nice build, what kind of spur gear is that.
I need spur gear an shaft specs. for my typhon an my Durango dex8
