I don't try to figure who they are. I just start walking super pigeon toe, set the sunglasses on my face crooked, then rapidly and repeatedly slap my chest with the side of my hand curled down bent at the wrist and wave back while drooling. Then I say HI! HI fwend, HIIII, EEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Then they just wanna' get away as fast as they can. Works everytime.
